Symmetry allows you to paint symmetrically along a given axis using the Paint Brush, Eraser, Flood, and Gradient tools. Select a mode, axis, and repetition amount.
Some useful hotkeys to keep in mind when using symmetry mode include:
- Shift + V to toggle between axis
- V to toggle between symmetry modes
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Symmetry Enable | Enables painting with symmetry along a given axis. |
Axis | Choose the axis of the symmetry plane. |
Mode | Choose between mirror mode, which flips the brush stroke to the other side, or radial mode, which instances the stroke in a circular array. |
Count | Sets the number of instances for radial symmetry. |
Selecting Custom from the Axis dropdown will provide tools to define an arbitrary symmetry plane.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Position | Position of the symmetry axis. |
Rotation | Rotation of the symmetry axis. |
Align | Engage alignment mode, which allows you to quickly snap the axis of symmetry to an object or geometry face. |
Align Type | Choose the alignment mode. Object snaps the axis to the center of a mesh, while Geometry allows you to snap to a face, edge, or vertex. |
Fine Tune | Adjust the axis of symmetry using the transform widget. |
Reset | Reset the position and direction of the axis of symmetry. |
