GGX is a microfacet shading model used in physically based rendering (PBR) to simulate how light reflects from rough surfaces. It produces realistic highlights and reflections across a wide range of material types, from smooth polished finishes to coarse, matte surfaces.
Notes:
- It offers more physically accurate results than older reflection models, especially for rough surfaces where light spreads more broadly.
