5.01 Hotfix Changelog (5011) #
January 22nd, 2025
Texturing Improvements & Fixes #
- Anisotropic Direction map painting works again.
- Fixed a problem that caused the projection mode to get reset to UV when dragging textures and materials to fill layers.
- Fixed a crash when hiding all vector shapes in a layer set to Brush mode.
- The Blur layer now works correctly with texture projects that have non-square (1:1) resolution.
- Resolved an issue with tri-planar fill layers and Material ID masks that could result in corrupt rendering of certain segments.
- Shift and Ctrl-click work again when using the geometry selection tools.
- Resolved a crash when changing between subdivision modes or adjusting settings for meshes linked to a texture project.
- The Clone tool should no longer have problems sampling from polygons that are larger than the brush size.
- Vector layer properties settings like warp, taper, and corner rounding are now mirrored consistently with symmetrical shapes.
- Symmetry can now be disabled for vector shapes that snap to the center line.
Rendering & Material Fixes #
- Resolved a variety of problems with blend modes and transparency for parallax in layered materials.
- Colored values for ambient occlusion in Raster render mode work again.
- Fixed a corrupt undo state when enabling height-based material layering.
Baking Fixes #
- Ctrl key no longer gets stuck on when hitting Ctrl+B to start your bake.
Miscellaneous Fixes #
- Export to Marmoset Viewer works again.
- Python scripts with checkbox UI elements now work again.
- Resolved a crash that could trigger when multiple mesh objects were selected and various interactions were performed.
- Fixed a problem with font rendering that was causing some tooltips to get clipped.
5.01 Changelog (5010) #
Texturing Improvements #
- Symmetry support has been added for solid and tube modes for Vector layers. Symmetry can be disabled on certain shapes for asymmetric effects and points snap to the center line.
- For Vector layers in brush mode, we’ve added a setting to place brush splots at the control points.
- Performance has been improved for Vector layers in brush mode, especially in cases with many brush splots.
- Performance has been improved for vector shapes with round corners.
- Performance has been improved for layers with many shapes.
- Selections can now be inverted via Texture -> Select -> Invert (Shift+Ctrl+I).
- The selection area now accounts for UDIM tile regions as expected when painting.
- Masks now display with padding when previewing them in the viewport, which no longer gives the impression that the mask is not seamless.
- The Clone Tool now respects the selection area.
- The Clone Tool now works in the canvas view with texture projects in multiple texture set mode.
- Clone stamping is now more stable when working over complex geometry.
- Sync Points now update the texture data needed for the Direction layer type.
- Sync Points now automatically refresh when layer visibility is toggled.
- Bump map processing has been improved, resolving a problem with seam artifacts in Sync Point data.
- Fill layers now automatically switch to UDIM projection mode when a UDIM texture set is loaded.
- Mesh subdivision and UV smoothing is now accounted for, resolving problems relating to pixel padding when painting near UV borders.
- Blend modes and masking work for Blur layers again.
- The primary layer blend mode is now set consistently when you have either the primary color or mask thumbnail selected, resolving a bug that could allow invalid blend modes to be set for certain map types.
- Layer names are now appended with a number when adding or duplicating layers.
- Fixed a problem that could result in incorrect layer thumbnails drawing in Multiple Texture Sets mode.
- The edit button for Input Maps now shows a list of maps in UDIM mode.
- Added the Active Maps GUI to layer groups and carve layer groups to make disabling the different map types at the group lever easier.
- Fixed a crash that could happen when deleting groups.
- Rasterizing mask layers now works as expected.
- Fixed an issue that caused some tools not to be available when layers and masks were selected in a specific order.
- Pixel padding should now work correctly on AMD and some older NVIDIA GPUs.
- Resolved a problem that was causing the ray tracing system to update too often when working with texture projects with displacement mapping.
Rendering & Materials Improvements #
- Bevel Width in the Bevel shading model can now be masked with vertex color data.
- Improved bevel shading on meshes with acutely overlapping geometry.
- Temporal stability has been improved when using the GPU denoiser in the Ray Tracing mode, resulting in a more stable image.
- The GPU denoising options have been simplified. The GPU denoiser is now the default option (when supported) and real-time denoising is always on in this mode.
- Denoising in Hybrid mode now works with the Shadow Catcher object.
- Shadow quality with direct lights has been improved in Hybrid when Light Sampling quality is set to Medium and Low.
- Blend modes now work with parallax mapping for layered materials.
- Fixed a bug that could corrupt the lighting data if a procedural sky was placed in a folder with transform modifications.
- The detail normal map texture now works again in the Detail Normals surface shading model.
- Fixed a crash that could trigger when copying and pasting material settings, and deleting the layer.
- Resolved some lighting artifacts that could appear with procedural skies when the sun is below the horizon line.
- Generated normals are now updated on undo/redo when changing displacement settings.
- Fixed a regression with the occlusion shading model that caused the material to get brighter if values over 1.0 were used.
- Fixed a regression with the ACES and Reinhard tone mappers that caused artifacts to appear with high contrast settings.
- Shading for the Detail Normals surface shading model when using triplanar projection should now match UV mode.
- In Hybrid mode, volumetric scattering now falls back to the subsurface scattering model.
- CPU denoising performance has been improved somewhat for viewport preview.
- Displacement effects should now update as expected during undo and redo.
Scene & Miscellaneous Improvements #
- Light Gel textures are now included when exporting scene bundles and when saving scenes with disabled textures.
- Virtual camera (perspective, orthographic, etc) selection is no longer dropped when tooltips are triggered from the camera properties.
- Toolbag 5 should now be recognized separately from previous versions in the Open With dialog on Windows.
User Interface Improvements #
- Fixed a crash that could trigger when collapsing a viewport that had been removed and docked back into the main window.
- Added Open Scene Folder option to the main menu.
- Resolved a series of bugs that could cause the preview on mesh button for texture maps to display the wrong state or get stuck on.
- Fixed a problem that could cause many invisible windows to get created on Mac.
