Selections in Toolbag can be made using various tools under different contexts, whether related to scene selection or pixel-based selections within texture projects.
Standard Selection #
Standard selection types include Rectangular, Ellipse, Lasso, and Polygon selection tools. These tools have the same settings and are used to select based on the camera view.
Standard Selection Settings #
Below is a list of tool settings for standard selection tools.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Feather | Sets how soft or blurry the selected edges will be. |
Viewport Shadowing | Determines whether objects will occlude the resulting selection. |
Anti-Aliased | Determines where the edges will be filtered to soften and reduce jaggedness. |
Backface Culling | Sets the maximum angle the tool will paint on relative to the center point of the brush. |
Backface Falloff | Sets how gradually the culling function fades to the maximum value. |
Isolation | Sets how gradually the culling function fades to the maximum value. |
Shadowing | Enabling selection shadowing determines whether objects in your camera view will occlude the resulting selection. |
Texturing Selection #
Along with the standard selection modes, Toolbag has dedicated Texture Project selection tools to select pixel data, including mesh objects, faces, and arbitrary shapes.
You can select and isolate parts of your mesh(es) for texturing using three different subtypes of geometry selection tools:
- Face – Makes face-based selections.
- UV Island – Makes UV Island selections based on the UVs set up in your 3D software.
- Mesh – Select entire contiguous mesh chunks.
- Wand – Allows you to make selections based on color and tone.
You can make multiple selections within a singular texture project by holding down shift + selecting another face, UV island, or mesh object.
Texturing Selection Settings #
Below is a list of tool settings for Texture Project-specific selection tools. Some settings may not appear due to the context of the selected tool.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Anti-Aliased | Determines where the edges will be filtered to soften and reduce jaggedness. |
Double Click (Face Select Only) | Sets what will be selected by double clicking on the mesh – UV Island, mesh chunk, or the whole mesh. |
Select Entire Mesh (Mesh Select Only) | If checked, a single click will select an entire mesh instead of an isolated chunk. Double-click always selects an entire mesh |
Tolerance | Set the sensitivity of the wand tool. |
Contiguous | Determines whether the selection area is limited to connected meshes. |
Backface Culling | Sets the maximum angle the tool will paint on relative to the center point of the brush. |
Backface Falloff | Sets how gradually the culling function fades to the maximum value. |
Isolation | Occludes unselected areas. |
Space | Set whether the wand tool uses the 3D viewport or 2D canvas area to select. |
Select From | Determines whether the texture values are sampled from all layers or only the current layer. |
